What is a Bareboat Charter?

A bareboat charter means that you bring the crew and we will bring the boat. Bareboat sailing is one of the best ways to enjoy sailing. Unlike a traditional fully-crewed yacht vacation, bareboating allows qualified sailors to act as their own captains while creating custom itineraries around the islands.

With bareboating, you have the opportunity to visit where you want and spend as much time as you wish exploring, which allows for a more personalized experience. Whether that means exploring uncharted beaches, snorkeling in undiscovered coves, or simply taking your time to find your own perfect sanctuary.

A bareboat charter in the Virgin Islands provides an unique and entertaining opportunity to experience adventure. If you are looking for an opportunity to be in charge and create your own style vacation while sailing throughout the Caribbean, then a bareboat charter would be one of the best options for you!

Bareboating allows experienced sailors more control and room to cruise based on their own schedule and preference, rather than having a predetermined itinerary. When you charter a bareboat in the Virgin Islands, you decide how long to stay in a certain location or anchorage, and also where you want to sail each day whether it is one place or multiple beaches or stopping points while sailing in the Virgin Islands. You can personalize your sailing experience while enjoying time spent in the Caribbean.

Bareboat and Captain Only Yacht Charters in the U.S. & US/Spanish Virgin Islands!

Our fleet of 32′ to 50′ yachts, designed and constructed by Island Packet Yachts, Tartan Yachts, and Blue Jacket are known for their excellent quality of construction and commodious interiors. We take pride in the unique niche we have established in the bareboat industry primarily guided by the quality of our boats, our personal attention and the ideal fleet location in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Unequaled Attention to Detail

Unlike many other larger bareboat companies whose offices and owners are stateside, IYC owners lead a full staff of on island marine industry professionals. This means that the people who answer your initial inquiry will also be the same greeting you upon your arrival to board your yacht, allowing for a great deal of accountability for our product from the start.

Why Charter with IYC vs Others?

We are on island, owner operated, and committed to delivering a more personal charter experience. Island Yacht Charters is a private and family owned operated business that strives to make every charter out to the Virgin Islands personal. We have been providing guests with the opportunity to visit the Virgin Islands since 1977.

As opposed to larger charter companies that operate at a distance from the islands, we take a hands-on approach, with the goal of ensuring that every charter feels personal. Our team works with guests to choose the best yacht available from our fleet of quality monohulls and share local suggestions while providing assistance with charter details, with the objective of creating a seamless experience from start to finish.

Our goal is not simply to provide a yacht for your trip, but to help create an experience tailored to your sailing plans and preferences. Whether you want to complete a short weekend escape or a long bareboat charter vacation in the US Virgin Islands, our local knowledge and support from your arrival to your departure will make your charter experience as seamless as possible.

In the US Virgin Islands, guests that are looking to charter a bareboat generally desire direct contact with their charter company and local knowledge, including assistance in planning routes, determining where they should go, and preparing for their time on the water. Our staff enjoys being able to provide our customers with the tools necessary for them to feel comfortable and prepared before they go out to sea.
